Melike Hatun Mosque

Located in Ulus, one of the central points of Ankara, the Melike Hatun Mosque stands out with its expansive architectural structure and traditional lines. Situated in Erbakan Square, the mosque carries the architectural understanding of the past into the present with a design inspired by classical Ottoman mosque architecture.
The exterior appearance of the mosque is characterized by a large central dome and four minarets. In the interior, details bearing the traces of traditional decorative arts complete the aesthetic integrity of the structure. The dome arrangement, arches, tile decorations, and hand-drawn ornaments are among the elements that define the architectural character of the mosque.
Melike Hatun, after whom the mosque is named, was a historical figure who lived in Ankara in the 14th century and is known for her charitable works and foundation activities. This structure, keeping her name alive, establishes a cultural bridge between Ankara's past and present.
Opened for worship in 2017, the Melike Hatun Mosque also draws attention with its sections designated for various social and cultural events, alongside its worship areas. Located within the bustling urban fabric of Ulus, the mosque is one of the important stops for visitors to Ankara to see from an architectural and cultural perspective.
With its traditional architectural approach, large scale, and location in the city center, the Melike Hatun Mosque holds a unique place in the religious and cultural life of Ankara.
