Saklıkent Gorge

Nature has a cool surprise in store for you.

A massive gorge stretches along the foothills of the Taurus Mountains in the Seydikemer district of Fethiye, Muğla: Saklıkent Canyon. Extending for 18 kilometers and featuring sheer cliffs that reach up to 300 meters in places, the canyon makes visitors feel small while simultaneously filling them with awe.

Its name is as intriguing as its story; Saklıkent, meaning "Hidden City," was discovered by chance by a shepherd. Since its discovery, it has captivated everyone who sees it; today, hundreds of thousands of visitors flock here annually to experience that same sense of wonder.

The first thing you will notice upon entering the canyon is the coolness of the water; temperatures can drop as low as 5 degrees Celsius. In the summer heat, this offers a truly refreshing escape. Whether you choose to simply step into the water to cool off or opt for a more active experience like rafting, the canyon is perfect for both. Mud baths are also a popular pastime here; they are said to be both fun and beneficial for the skin.

The water feeding the canyon originates from a tributary of the Eşen Stream and the springs of Mount Akdağ, which accounts for its natural purity and clarity. Relaxing at the restaurants near the canyon entrance after your walk makes for a wonderful way to end the day.

Located 45 kilometers from Fethiye and 55 kilometers from Ölüdeniz, Saklıkent is a must visit destination in the region for those wishing to immerse themselves in nature and enjoy a bit of adventure.
