Çorum Grand Mosque is one of the city’s most important historical and religious landmarks, with a history extending from the Seljuk period into the Ottoman era. The original mosque is believed to have been built during the reign of Seljuk Sultan Alaaddin Keykubat III. Damaged by earthquakes over the centuries, it underwent several restorations, including repairs associated with the renowned Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan, and later became known as the Murad-ı Rabi Mosque during the reign of Sultan Murad IV.
Much of the mosque’s present appearance was shaped by restorations carried out in the 19th century. One of its most significant features is its ebony wooden pulpit dating to 1306, an important example of traditional woodworking. Located in Çorum’s historic city center, the mosque is an essential stop for visitors exploring the city’s architectural and cultural heritage.
